Important technical post-production tips for commercial photographers.

Post production can be a daunting task, especially with Photoshop’s myriad of “sliders” the raw image converter and its “interface” and client demands that projects actually be “finished” at some point. A lot of the time you’re going to see a spinning rainbow-esque pinwheel which means that good things are happening in your computer’s digestive tract. This is essential. Many amino acids need to be added to images to give them that “film” look and the spinning pinwheel means that this important addition is proceeding apace.

The first important tip that you might want to keep in mind is that many of those sliders and curve adjustments need to be done while eating a bagel. You may not realize that and it’s not in the manual, but any photographer would be a fool to ignore this crucial step. Bagels are doughy and taste bad unless they are covered with eggs and bacon, so you might want to spend more on the add-ons.

As for channels and the channel mixer in photoshop, it is not possible to understand these important functions. You can google them and watch some YouTube videos if you want, but I haven’t gotten around to that yet. As far as I can tell there is a separate channel for red, green and blue and then you can add some extra channels that exert tiny but not insignificant astronomical forces upon your data.

Alright, you’ve wasted enough time reading this. Now go do something useful.
